Telenor launched 4G services in Myanmar’s capital Nay Pyi Taw last week, with plans to extend services to other parts of the country soon.
“Myanmar is experiencing an extensive growth of mobile subscriptions and we are also witnessing higher demand for mobile data. Over 60% of our customers today are data users,” said Telenor Myanmar’s outgoing chief executive Petter Furberg, in a statement recently. The company is believed to be testing 4G services in Yangon, Mandalay, Myawady and Muse.
Ooredoo Myanmar recently launched the country’s first 4G services. The country is recording a huge increase in the data consumption. The country is planning to allocate spectrum in 1800Mhz and 2600Mhz. The auction is likely to take place in the near future.
