India’s telecom market leader Bharti Airtel has announced that the company is forming an autonomous fibre company. According to analysts, Airtel will be able to provide the necessary infrastructure to different mobile service providing clients with its new venture.
Initially, the CEO of the new company will be reporting to the CEO of Bharti Airtel. As per the chief executive officer of the company, the data consumption rate has increased over the last few years. The motto of the company is to serve the increasing requirement of fibre that the telecom sector needs.
Bharti Airtel will organise a slump sale and transfer the fibre network to its subsidiary Telesonic Networks Ltd. Currently, the company covers 246,000 kilometres of the optic fibre route. However, it is going through a dynamic growth to cater to the increasing data requirement.
The director of Asian Corporate has a different opinion about establishing a whole new company for fibre optic solution. The director says that Airtel has previously joined hands together with Idea Cellular and Vodafone India to for telecom tower. However, most of the telecom companies own their own tower infrastructure to survive in the competitive telecom market of India.
Airtel has announced the formation of its new company when it is planning for a battle with Reliance Jio regarding fibre network. Apart from Reliance Jio, the company has also targeted Vodafone-Idea merger. Airtel is hoping to include 3 million to 5 million new customers within the next three years.
