The recent Global Mobile Suppliers Association report says that the international LTE and LTE-Advanced market reached 1 billions connections by the end of 2015. The last three months of the year 2015 led to addition of 156 million new connections while 552.2 million subscribers were added in the entire calendar year. The report further says that the total number of LTE and LTE-Advanced connections are likely to surpass 3G/WCDMA-HSPA connections in 2020.
The rate of LTE subscriptions growth is continuously accelerating with one in seven mobile subscriptions worldwide being that of this technology. With 54.3% marketshare, Asia Pacific region is recording a high growth in LTE connections. China itself boasts of more than 350 million new subscribers by the end of 2015.
On the other hand, North America has a market share of 22.2% with total of 237 million subscribers. Europe is at third position with 14.8% market share. Latin America and Caribbean region and the Middle East and Africa recorded 54 million and 32.5 million LTE connections, according to GSA.
GSA report says that total of 480 service providers in 157 countries have commercially launched LTE systems. Nearly 550 networks are going to be commercially available by the end of 2016.
