Cisco has announced Jaipur as its first ‘Lighthouse City’ in South Asia. Assigned to a limited cities across the world, the new title has enabled Jaipur to join the league of Cisco Lighthouse Cities globally such as Hamburg (Germany), Barcelona (Spain) and Adelaide (Australia).
The Indian Government has announced huge plans to promote Smart City in the country. Cisco has been working with the Government and other stakeholders to drive smart cities in India. The title provides Jaipur access to Cisco’s global network and channel program capabilities. Cisco is collaborating with the city of Jaipur on a number of key initiatives, including smart city projects.
“The Lighthouse City engagement will be enabled through a joint working group, which will focus on deploying next generation technologies to impact citizens and society,” Cisco said.
A Smart+Connected Community with technology as the pillar is planned to improve city operations and the development and delivery of new services to citizens.
Alongside, Cisco has collaborated with Qualcomm Technologies Inc., General Electrical and 3M India Ltd to launch of the Innovation Centre in the city of Jaipur. The Innovation Centre will be housed and operated by Genpact, and will help accelerate co-innovation of Internet of Everything (IoE) based solutions.
The Innovation Centre will team up with startups, developers, government agencies, and academic communities for developing IoE solutions on a global scale.
