The much awaited Mobile World Congress 2018 is all set to start in Barcelona, Spain from 26th February 2018- 1st March 2018. The event usually witnesses the launch of new handsets and this year is not going to be any different. Some of the most talked about devices are scheduled to be launched at MWC later this month.
Topping the charts are the flagship phones, Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, which are going to be inaugurated by Samsung through an “Unpacked Event” in MWC. With minor appearance changes, Samsung S9 series will have 18:9 screen display and a better camera as an add-on.
Next in the hierarchy is Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5, which will be an extension to Xiaomi’s Redmi 5 Plus with a 5.99 inch full HD+ 18:9 display, Snapdragon 625 in two storage versions– 3GB of RAM and 32GB inbuilt memory and 4GB of RAM and 64GB inbuilt memory, 12MP rear camera and a power packed 4000mAh battery.
On number 3 is Moto X4, the one with 6GB of RAM, 5.2 inch Full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset, 3000mAh battery and Android Oreo enabled in it. This smartphone’s cost is expected to be around Rs. 25,000, however the smartphone was launched originally in November 2017 in India.
Moto’s legacy is going to be taken forward by Moto G6 Series in the Indian market. With an impeccable success in it’s G series, Moto G6 is expected to have 18:9 aspect ratio widescreen display and will be featured in a flawless metal design. A smarter processor and the latest android enabled in it, G6 will be launched by Lenovo at the MWC.
In the race is also Huawei P11, which will be pricing in between Rs. 42,000 to 45,000 in India. Huawei P11 will bestow 18:9 widescreen aspect ratio display, three back cameras and in a 10nm Kirin 970 chipset which is told to be 25 times better in processing and 50 times more energy efficient as compared to Huawei’s P10.
Sony Xperia XZ1 Premium will be launched by the company at the MWC in two storage versions, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage, and 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage, both in Snapdragon 835 processor.
Lastly, Nokia 9 with a 5.5 OLED 18:9 widescreen bezel-less display is also going to be featured at the MWC. Snapdragon 835 and Android 8.0 Oreo running in the smartphone, two 13 MP rear cameras and 128 GB of internal storage are another important highlights of this much looked for smartphone.
