NEC Indonesia implements Bedside Nursing Technology

Taking the power of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to the healthcare sector, NEC Indonesia implements an innovative technology in few hospitals in Indonesia. Dubbed as Bedside Nursing Technology (BNT), this technology allows the nurses to monitor and record the real-time statuses of the patients using a mobile device, such as a tablet.

Basically, the technology is offered through BSN app (Bedside Nursing app), an android application capable of retrieving the data on patient’s vitals from Hospital Information System (HIS). This will help the nurses to administer a personalized care for the patients based on their vitals.

To ensure it to be error-free, the app has a feature of 3-point check – confirming the Right Patient, Right Nurse and Right Order (of drugs, injections etc.) before carrying out the procedure. There is a provision on the app to enter the new data, in case if the nurse has administered any tests. The interface is also said to be easy.

“NEC’s healthcare mobile solutions ensure that hospitals can assign its most appropriate personnel to provide the correct procedures at the right point of care. NEC Indonesia is proud to be able to support the healthcare industry, including the implementation of our Bedside Nursing solution, which can be tailored to each healthcare organization’s system and needs, in order to deliver better patient care experience,” said Takayuki Kano, President Director, PT. NEC Indonesia.

Besides the body vitals, BSN system also provides details on drug allergy, blood type, vital signs, doctor-in-charge, bed arrangement within a ward etc.

It is currently getting implemented in two hospitals — the Budhi Asih Public Hospital and the Cimacan Public Hospital in Indonesia.
