Singapore’s homegrown Internet Service Provider (ISP) ViewQuest has expanded its operation to Malaysia via a joint venture partnership with the Malaysian telecom engineering services company Televenture. ViewQuest is the first Singapore ISP to offer services in Malaysia.
The ISP has been deploying its network in Kuala Lumpur since July 2016. It already owns 100km of underground fiber optic cables in key business districts in Kuala Lumpur: the Golden Triangle, Bangsar South, and Cyberjaya. Televenture laid the underground cables.
Besides the high-speed broadband, ViewQuest also offers a suite of enterprise networking and managed services, including the Direct Cloud Connect Service, which helps corporations in Malaysia access cloud services such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud, etc.
The company’s chief executive Vignesa Moorthy has revealed to The Straits Times that it has already started providing up to 10Gbps of Internet links to businesses. By the end of 2016, the company will start offering 1Gbp fiber broadband plans and virtual private network (VPN) services to private home owners in Kuala Lumpur. The fastest available fiber broadband plan in Malaysia now offers a speed of up to 500Mbps.
