Spanish telecom giant Telefonica has signed up as a Global Direct Connect Partner (GDCP) of Mumbai-based Routesms Solutions. Telefonica, being a company with presence in 21 countries including Spain, Europe and Latin America, provides Routesms access to 300+ million mobile subscribers globally.
Routesms has 117 mobile network operator (MNO) as its GDCPs. The company plans to increase the same to 180 MNOs by 2017.
“We are looking at rapidly increasing our footprint globally. The GDCP tie-ups are a huge push in that direction. Stronger ties with MNOs unmatched reach, stability and delivery rates. Partnering with Telefonica gives us incredible geographical reach with close to a 300 million mobile subscribers,” said Rajdip Gupta, Co-founder & CEO, Routesms Solutions Limited.
Routesms expects an increase of 5% in the messaging traffic to its existing estimated international volume of over 900 million SMS. “Our sustained effort in getting more MNOs onboard has helped us become an automatic choice for enterprises, MNOs and resellers alike when it comes to any messaging requirement worldwide,” Mr. Gupta added.
The global A2P (application to peer – SMS sent through software by businesses) industry is growing at 25-30% annually and is expected to be USD 70 billion by 2020.
