Techorus Deploys Infinera’s Cloud Xpress To Interconnect Tokyo Data Centers

Infrastructure and managed service provider NHN Techorus Corp (Techorus) has installed Infinera’s Cloud Xpress to interconnect its Tokyo data centers. The Cloud Xpress allows Techorus to scale capacity with the aim to serve its data center customers with hyper-scale density, operational simplicity and low power consumption.

Infinera Cloud Xpress will help Techorus for interconnectivity among its locations, to connect to the metro Tokyo ecosystem of customers, partners and service providers. Its photonic integrated circuit technology will support up to one terabit per second (Tb/s) of input and output capacity in two rack units.

Infinera Cloud Xpress does not require any additional multiplexers or amplifiers up to 150kms to deliver a full 500 Gb/s super-channel of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) line-side bandwidth, and up to 600 km with an amplified line system. Cloud Xpress also enables efficient scaling with simple provisioning and open interfaces to plug into existing cloud provisioning systems using open software defined networking (SDN) application programming interfaces (APIs). Instant Bandwidth allows the activation of WDM bandwidth in 100 Gb/s increments with a few clicks of a mouse enabling rapid scale to meet continued customer demand.

Commenting on Infinera Cloud Xpress, Jun Masuda, Operating Officer, Information Infrastructure and Network Management Section at Techorus said, “The Infinera Cloud Xpress is an ideal platform for our metro network, connecting critical data centers in Tokyo. It offers very high capacity while also being compact, power-efficient and easy to use, matching our data center operating requirements.”

“Infinera continues to see traction among our customers deploying Cloud Xpress to scale capacity for data centers. We are especially pleased with the success we have seen providing Cloud Xpress to Techorus and other customers in Japan and the Asia Pacific ,region in conjunction with our highly valued partner, Nissho Electronics,” said Andrew Bond-Webster, vice president, regional sales APAC at Infinera.

Infinera introduced the Cloud Xpress family in 2014 delivering a cloud-optimized WDM solution to cloud service providers, Internet content providers, Internet Exchange service providers and other large-scale data center operators. The Cloud Xpress family offers customers the choice of 10 gigabit Ethernet (GbE), 40 GbE and 100 GbE client interfaces to meet their specific requirements.
